What you will build

A resume site with a live visitor counter, deployed automatically from your Git repository.

Starting point: you only need a Vultr account. This challenge is self-contained, so you can do it without having done any other.

The chunks

  1. Write your resume in HTML and CSS
  2. Serve it from a Vultr instance with Nginx, HTTPS and your own domain
  3. Build a small API that increments and returns a visitor count
  4. Store the count in a database
  5. Show the count on the page with JavaScript
  6. Write at least two tests for the API
  7. Add a CI pipeline that runs tests and deploys on push to main
BASH
curl https://your-domain.example/api/visits
{"visits": 42}

What makes it great

  • A readable repo with a clear README
  • Infrastructure written down (Terraform or a setup script)
  • A short blog post explaining what you built and what broke

Do not put database passwords or API keys in the repository.
